Hawaii single-trip oversize permit fee

$0

Source: Hawaii DOT Highways — Trucking

Effective date: July 8, 2026 (as the live announcement prints).

Checked 2026-08-21. Next check 2026-08-28.

That is the live Hawaii single-trip application fee for one movement, from one origin to one destination. HIDOT has waived OS/OW application fees until further notice.

Official trucking page: “Announcement July 8, 2026: Effective immediately all application fees for Use and Occupancy and Oversize/Overweight permits will be waived until further notice.”

HRS §291-36(j) still prints a schedule: “A fee shall be charged for each permit issued by the director of transportation as follows: (1) Single trip permit for loads less than 1.35 times the allowable load or less than 14 feet in width...... $ 5. … (3) Overweight permit in excess of 1.35 times the allowable load ... $25. (4) Oversize permit for width in excess of 14 feet.... $25.”

The live waiver and the statute do not match. We are posting the live $0 waiver. We are not replacing it with the HRS $5 / $25 schedule, and we are not deleting that schedule.

This page covers general single-trip permits. County roads are a separate product.

When this number took effect

The live HIDOT announcement is dated July 8, 2026. We are not inventing a different date.

Checked 2026-08-21 (PT) against the official HIDOT snapshot.
